9:00am - 4:00pm   Housing First - A Rural Perspective

Participants will be treated to a day long engaging and interactive session facilitated by Jaime Rogers the Manager of Homeless & Housing Development with Medicine Hat Community Housing Society and Wally Czech, Director of Training with the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness.

Through a process of information sharing, interactive activities, and group discussions, attendees will gain and provide insight regarding the core principles of Housing First, what they “Really” mean and the difference between the Housing First philosophy and the intervention. In addition, you will learn what it means to operate from a coordinated systems perspective while applying both Housing First and systems concepts to rural and regional context.

Participants should come away with some concrete ideas about what may or may not be effective in implementing a Housing First model within an effective homelessness system of care and have defined some of the next steps that would be helpful in moving their community and region forward.
