Harm Reduction 101

*This session has been coordinated by the NL Housing and Homelessness Network, and will be delivered by Jane Henderson, Provincial Harm Reduction Consultant with the Opioid Dependence Treatment Center of Excellence.

Harm Reduction 101 provides an opportunity for Health Care Practitioners, Allied Health, Community, Frontline workers, and anyone with a special interest to learn the basic principles and practices of Harm Reduction.

Learning Objectives:

• Understand the basic concepts and application of harm reduction
• Reduce stigma and discrimination against people who use substances
• Recognize when practices are contrary to the principles of harm reduction
• Become an advocate for the integration of harm reduction practices in your own work

Harm Reduction 101 also covers the basics of substance, trauma, and stigma, with a question period at the end.

This session will be taking place in person, at 77 Charter Avenue (entrance on East Drive), in the NL Housing and Homelessness Network’s Provincial Learning Centre. Our location is on a bus route (route 2), and there is free parking across the street from the entrance – please note that the backlot parking is for tenants of the building only.
