Vicarious Trauma

This presentation is designed for frontline community workers and will introduce the concepts of Vicarious Trauma.

Topics Covered

  • How do you deal with the difficult stories and increasingly complex situations? 
  • Where do they go at the end of your work day? 
  • How do you deal with the lack of resources to help your clients? 
  • Did you know this would be part of your job? 
  • Were you trained for this?

Learning Objectives 

  • What is Vicarious (secondary) trauma
  • Increase awareness about the impact of our work on us and our lives 
  • Identify what we can change personally, professionally, organizationally 
  • Decide where to begin 
  • Take away a diverse set of tools for your tool box

This session will be taking place in person, at 77 Charter Avenue (entrance on East Drive), in the NL Housing and Homelessness Network’s Provincial Learning Centre. Our location is on a bus route (route 2), and there is free parking across the street from the entrance – please note that the backlot parking is for tenants of the building only.
