Compassion Fatigue and Self-Preservation

February 21, 2024 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm NST

*This FREE session has been coordinated by the NL Housing and Homelessness Network, and will be delivered by Paula Delahunty, Addictions Coordinator, Eastern Urban NL Health services*

This session is designed for frontline workers and will introduce the concepts of Compassion Fatigue and Self-Preservation.

Session Objectives

Taking care of yourself is an individual personal journey. And how you used to take care of yourself before may not be how you decide to take care of yourself today. Our relationship with ourselves changes as much as our relationships with others changes. When we are in the service of caring, we often forget the importance of caring for ourselves.

Topics Include:

  • What is Compassion Fatigue
  • Elements of Compassion Fatigue
  • Window of Tolerance
  • Resilience
  • What is self-care?
  • Why is self-care important?
  • The dimensions of self-care
  • Making a self-care plan
